Daily Devotion of Psalm 67

Daily Nugget:
“Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. 6 Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us.” Psalm 67:5-6As J. Vernon McGee’s commentary of this Psalm chapter (Thru the Bible) reminds the reader, there is one purpose that all Christians should intend to accomplish and promote. Getting the world to read their Bible is important and life-changing, but it should not be the primary objective. Leading souls to a saving knowledge of Christ is a challenge that all should be engaged to do. Getting folks to obey God’s commandments should also be at the forefront of our priorities. However, all those things are not what God wants most of all.

God wants all to praise Him for who He is, for what He is, and for what He has done and will do. The entire book of Psalms is about giving God the honor and praise He deserves. In that preserved, Hebrew songbook, “praise” is found in 132 verses. “Praises” is used in 19 verses. Praising God is essential to Him.

Unfortunately, most of the world is not giving its Creator what He deserves and desires. In the majority of minds, His accomplishments and power are given little thought or recognition. Government is trusted more than He, as is the dollar, man’s abilities, education, luck, coincidence, and strength. We would have none of those if it were not for our holy, helping God.

Praising God for all He has done is essential so mankind will turn to Him. Praising Him is acknowledging Him, and giving Him credit for His great deeds and help. That attitude of having the immense respect God deserves is the beginning step for all course of actions that should follow in a Christian’s life. It is the precursor for all that should follow with a godly lifestyle.

Only a respected God can be trusted for all that He has said, has done, and will do as cited in His preserved Word. Once there is faith, honor, and respect for Him, He then can be turned to for salvation, guidance, help, and truths.

Satan knows God. He has talked to Him but nowhere does the enemy of God praise Him for His goodness. Many acknowledge that there is a God, but do honor him by giving Him credit that is due Him. Too many are wealthy with worldly “treasures” but only praise themselves for what they have.

A person that recognizes what God has done, is doing and praises Him is doing more of what God wants than many others. Are you giving God what He desires from you: PRAISE?
“Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!” Psalm 107:8 Also: Psalm 107:15, 21, 31.

Today’s Thought:
One of the essential preparations for eternity is delight in praising God; a higher acquirement, I do think than even delight and devotedness in prayer. — Chalmers
