Daily Devotion of Psalm 65

Daily Nugget:
This Psalm reminds the reader of many things for which he should be grateful. God should be continually praised for:

His help:

• For answered prayer (vs. 2).
• For helping us overcome and avoid our sins (vs. 3).
• For using and accepting us for His glory (vs. 4). Who are we that the Holy God would choose to use us for His purpose if we allow Him?

His mightiness:

• For helping us, no matter where we are (vs. 5).
• For keeping this world stabilized (vs. 6 ). The world is falsely panicking about the world falling apart. Because they do not know God and trust Him, they do not see how he has everything under control.
• For controlling the seas (vs. 7). Again this verse contradicts the world’s thinking that God cannot maintain His creation, and somehow they have to control it.

His creation:

• For keeping the Earth stable (vs. 8). The sun rises every morning and sets in the evening. It will always do that until God creates a new Earth (Rev. 21:1). The fear the ungodly are instilling in many is overlooking one significant fact. That truth is God created this world, and His hand is on it every day. The Creator is in charge, not the created!
• For providing God’s creation what it needs to provide life for what He as created (vss. 9-10). He waters the Earth, so His creation can be fed and survive.
• For blessing harvested crops (vss. 11-12).
• For providing an abundance of food, including flocks and herds (vs. 13).

Much of the world is without understanding about the planet on which they reside. As smart as they believe themselves to be, they do not recognize the hand of God on them and this planet. It is God that has created Earth and all the living things that reside on it. He many things so man can survive. Yet, the world is worried that unless they fix it, there is no hope for their survival.

However, God has opened the eyes of many believers. They look around and see the same things the ungodly see. However, they see and experience that God’s hand is on what He has made, and it will remain until it is no longer needed by man.

Psalm 65
1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm and Song of David. Praise waiteth for thee, O God, in Sion: and unto thee shall the vow be performed.
2 O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come.
3 Iniquities prevail against me: as for our transgressions, thou shalt purge them away.
4 Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple.
5 By terrible things in righteousness wilt thou answer us, O God of our salvation; who art the confidence of all the ends of the earth, and of them that are afar off upon the sea:
6 ¶ Which by his strength setteth fast the mountains; being girded with power:
7 Which stilleth the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves, and the tumult of the people.
8 They also that dwell in the uttermost parts are afraid at thy tokens: thou makest the outgoings of the morning and evening to rejoice.
9 Thou visitest the earth, and waterest it: thou greatly enrichest it with the river of God, which is full of water: thou preparest them corn, when thou hast so provided for it.
10 Thou waterest the ridges thereof abundantly: thou settlest the furrows thereof: thou makest it soft with showers: thou blessest the springing thereof.
11 Thou crownest the year with thy goodness; and thy paths drop fatness.
12 They drop upon the pastures of the wilderness: and the little hills rejoice on every side.
13 The pastures are clothed with flocks; the valleys also are covered over with corn; they shout for joy, they also sing.
